Defining design elements that add strength and vigor to the 2017 CR-V are athletic wheel arches, a long hood with aggressive aerodynamic front-end detailing, a short rear overhang, and increased ground clearance. The design also features a 1.6-inch longer wheelbase that improves rear-seat roominess and ride quality. The design of the 2017 Honda CRV remids us another popular SUV Toyota Higlander. We can certainly see the resemblance between two vehicles and that's not bad at all.
Honda compliments the new CRV's design with a windswept new front end appearance, including signature Honda LED headlights (Touring trim), a Honda-first Active Shutter Grille System that lowers aerodynamic drag, uprated aluminum alloy wheel sizes, narrower A-pillars for improved visibility, and dual exhaust outlets. Adding convenience is a Honda-first available Hands Free Access Power Tailgate (Touring), which allows opening and closing the tailgate by using a foot-activated motion sensor located under the rear bumper. Available chrome garnishes, rain-sensing windshield wipers, roof rails and numerous Genuine Honda Accessories also expand beauty, convenience and functionality.
Hondas has long been known its accommodating and versatile interior. The all-new CR-V builds on that legacy with an even more spacious and space-efficient interior – the roomiest CR-V cabin yet – boasting top-class interior space, best-in-class rear seat legroom, a more voluminous cargo area and the easy utility of the new one-motion dive-down 60/40 split rear seat. With 105.9 cubic feet of passenger cabin volume, the CR-V offers impressive space and comfort, particularly in the spacious rear seating area, which has gained more than two inches of additional legroom. The CR-V has an expanded 39.2 cubic ft. of cargo space behind the rear seats and a volume of 75.8 cu-ft. with the rear seats down to create a flat load floor that is 9.8 inches longer than in the previous model. Underfloor storage is available just behind the rear seats; for maximum cargo capacity, the two-position removable rear cargo floor can be set in a low position to open up even more space for tall and bulky items.
The CR-V 's instrument panel provides important vehicle information via a Driver Information Interface (DII) positioned centrally in the meter panel. Controls positioned on the left side of the steering wheel allow the driver to cycle the DII display through multiple screens of information from sources including LKAS, ACC and more, when equipped. The Maintenance Minder™ system alerts the driver to upcoming maintenance needs via the DII and should a fault occur with the vehicle, specific warning information will appear. The display indicates when to change the oil, air cleaner, transmission fluid, spark plugs or coolant, as well as when to rotate the tires. Dash is very user friendly with intuitive controls and everything is within reach for driver and passenger for comfort and safety.
The 2017 CR-V has a 1.6-inch longer wheelbase than the previous-generation CR-V (104.7 in. vs. 103.1 in.) for better second-row seating roominess, easier ingress and egress, and superior ride comfort. Despite this upgrade, the overall length increases a modest 0.6 inches, resulting from a shorter rear overhang, which also adds to the new generation CR-V's sportier look. The front overhang is the same as in 2016.
The new CR-V also has a 1.4-inch wider stance, which further helps with interior roominess, storage capacity and road holding, while contributing to the CR-V's more athletic stance. Wheel track is up 0.7 inches in front and 1.3 inches in back, significantly benefiting handling. Finally, a slightly taller overall height compared to the 2016 CR-V contributes to both interior roominess and cargo storage capacity.
With a choice of a powerful 2.4-liter in-line 4 or an all-new 1.5-liter turbocharged in-line 4 (a CR-V first), the 2017 CR-V offers exceptional fuel efficiency and fun-to-drive performance. Both engines are paired with Continuously Variable Transmissions and are offered in front-wheel drive or with reengineered Real Time AWD with Intelligent Control System™ for all-weather performance and control.
